More Beijing...

Finally, I have a little bit of free time to tell you about my last couple of days.  On Monday, we went to the Summer Palace in Beijing for some more sight seeing.  This place was really beautiful and huge.  All of the buildings had really intricate drawings on them and there were lots of statues and rocks.  Our tour guide, Brenda,  told us what all of the statues mean.  She pretty much told us that every one of them means "longevity" or "auspicious" (good luck).  Some of the things that they believe are really weird.  There was also a huge lake where people paddle boated around.  We took a boat ride across it which was pretty cool.  .

Later we went to the Beijing Olympic Stadium.  This was really cool.  We got to ride Segways around the track in the stadium.

On Tuesday  we went to the Great Wall.  This was really an amazing experience.  We rode a trolley lift up to a very scenic point on the wall and then walked up a portion.  After taking in the view and the amazingness of the wall, we took a sliding car down.  This was like a slow speed roller coaster.

Later on, we went to the China University of Mining and Technology and got to meet students and tour their facilities.  Then we had dinner with them.  After that we hopped on the overnight train to Dalian, where I am now.
